Every year, the Alexander von Humboldt foundation honors researchers from all over the world and all disciplines with its prestigious Research Awards.  This year, 4 argentine researchers were among the 45 awardees:Dra. Vanesa Gottifredi, Prof. Dr. Carlos Ballare, Prof. Dr. Daniel De Florian, and Prof. Dr. Fernando Stefani.

The award ceremony was held during the annual symposium of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation held in Bamberg from 22 to 24 March. There, more than 100 researchers from various fields of science and different parts of the planet had the chance to interact. Prof. Stefani received a Georg-Foster Research Award from the Parliamentary State Secretary Thomas Silberhorn (left), and the President of the Humboldt Foundation Prof. Hans-Christian Pape (right).

In his speech at the official presentation of the Humboldt Research Awards, Prof. Pape directly addressed the award winners and underscored that supporting and funding excellent, independent individuals is extremely important for science. “We support the core of science. We support you, the scientists”. Also attending the ceremony was Parliamentary State Secretary Thomas Silberhorn.

In addition to the personal distinction, the award enables Prof. Stefani to be host of postdoctoral researchers financed by the Humboldt Foundation to come from Germany to perform research stays at his lab in Buenos Aires.
