Ph.D. candidate Florencia Choque and Prof. Stefani participated in the 11th International Weber Symposium on Innovative Fluorescence Methodologies in Biochemistry and Medicine held in Punta del Este, Uruguay, on January 8-13, 2023.

The “Weber Symposium” honors the fundamental and far-reaching contributions of Professor Gregorio Weber. It provides an overview of modern fluorescence methodologies and applications in the biological and medical sciences.

The organization of the Weber symposia has been a continuous effort led by Prof. Enrico Graton and Prof. David Jameson, with editions held in Búzios, Brazil, in 2017, in Hawaii in 2014201120082005, 2002, 1999, and 1995, and in Italy in 1986 and 1991. This time, the local organization in Uruguay was carried out by Dr. Leonel Malacrida.

The Weber Symposium is a friendly and open-minded forum where fluorescence experts from al over the world describe state-of-the-art and emerging technologies used in their research programs. Topics include time-resolved fluorescence, phasors, Förster resonance energy transfer, multi-photon fluorescence microscopy, confocal microscopy, single molecule studies, fluctuation correlation spectroscopy, fluorescence imaging spectroscopy, macromolecular (nucleic acids and proteins) interactions, membrane dynamics, and quantitative cellular dynamics including metabolism.
